Put the wrong fuel in? Do not start the engine.

Do not even turn the ignition on. If the engine has not run, the job is usually far simpler and far cheaper. Call the line and we will tell you exactly what happens next.

What we cover

What Our Emergency Fuel Service Covers

An empty tank and a wrong-fuel tank are two completely different jobs. The first is a delivery. The second depends entirely on whether the engine has been started.

Ran Out Of Petrol Or Diesel

Enough fuel brought to you to get the vehicle started and on to the nearest filling station, day or night.

Call for emergency fuel

Petrol In A Diesel

The most common misfuel there is. If the engine has not been started, the vehicle can usually be dealt with before any damage is done.

Call the line

Diesel In A Petrol

Less common, because the nozzle rarely fits, but it happens with cans and older vehicles. Do not turn the key — call us.

Talk to a controller

Vans & Commercials

Larger tanks and higher daily mileage make running dry more common. Fuel delivered to the roadside or your yard.

Motorway & A-Road Run-Outs

Ran dry between junctions? Get behind the barrier and call. We will bring fuel or move you off the carriageway.

Recovery To A Garage

Where fuel alone will not fix it, the same visit becomes a recovery to a garage of your choice.

Simple, fast, no fuss

How Our Emergency Fuel Call-Out Works

Four steps from the moment you call to the moment you are moving again. No apps, no membership, no waiting on hold.

1

Call Or WhatsApp

Ring the 24/7 line or send a WhatsApp message. A real controller answers, not a queue.

2

Tell Us What Went In

Which fuel the vehicle takes, what actually went in, and whether the engine has been started.

3

We Confirm And Dispatch

We confirm whether this is a fuel delivery or a recovery, the price and a realistic time.

4

Fuelled Or Recovered

Enough fuel to reach a filling station, or the vehicle moved before the engine is run on the wrong fuel.

Why drivers call us

Why Choose Premier Recovery For Emergency Fuel In London

We are a recovery operator, not a call centre selling your job on. When you ring, you speak to the people who send the unit — and that is why the answers you get are straight ones.

Genuinely 24/7

Tanks run dry at the worst possible times. Our line is answered through the night, at weekends and on bank holidays.

Right Fuel, Properly Handled

Petrol and diesel carried and decanted in proper containers, not siphoned out of somebody else's boot.

Straight Advice On Misfuels

We tell you what not to do first. Whether the engine has run is the single biggest factor in what this ends up costing you.

Recovery On The Same Visit

If fuel alone will not fix it, the same unit can recover the vehicle rather than leaving you to call again.

Price Agreed Upfront

You are told what the call-out costs before we set off. No meters running, no surprise invoice at the kerbside.

London Based, UK Wide

Strong coverage across Greater London plus Birmingham, Manchester, Sheffield, Devon, Scotland, Wales and Ireland.

Every kind of fuel problem

Fuel Situations We Attend Every Day

Empty tanks and wrong tanks both end the journey. These are the calls that come in most often.

Completely Out Of Fuel

The gauge was optimistic, or the last filling station was further back than you thought. Fuel brought to you.

Petrol In A Diesel Tank

Caught at the pump, or a mile down the road. What happens next depends entirely on whether the engine has run.

Diesel In A Petrol Tank

Rarer, because the nozzle usually does not fit, but it still happens with jerry cans and older vehicles.

Will Not Restart After Fuelling

Diesels in particular can draw air into the system after running dry, and need more than a splash in the tank.

Run Dry On A Motorway

Coasting onto a hard shoulder with an empty tank. Get behind the barrier first, then call.

Empty On A Yard Or Site

Vans and plant that have run dry where there is no pump nearby, refuelled where they stand.

Straight answers on price

What Affects The Cost Of An Emergency Fuel Call-Out

Every call-out is quoted individually. These are the five things a controller will ask about before giving you a price.

Location

How far a unit has to travel to reach you.

Fuel Type & Amount

Petrol or diesel, and how much is needed to get you moving again.

Time Of Day

Overnight, weekend and bank holiday call-outs are priced differently.

Fuel Or Misfuel

A top-up is a very different job to a contaminated tank.

Access

Motorways, red routes and gated sites take longer to reach.

No surprises. You get a clear figure on the phone before a unit is dispatched, and that is the figure you pay. If it turns out to be a misfuel rather than an empty tank and the vehicle needs recovering, you are told the cost of that before we do it.

Stay safe

What To Do If You Have Put The Wrong Fuel In

What you do in the next five minutes decides whether this is an inconvenience or a very large bill.

  • Do not start the engine, and do not turn the ignition on at all
  • If you are still on the forecourt, select neutral and get help to push the vehicle clear
  • Tell the filling station staff so the pump area can be kept clear
  • Keep your receipt — it shows which pump was used and how much went in
  • If you have already driven off, stop as soon as it is safe and switch off
  • Call the line and tell us exactly how far the vehicle was driven

Already started the engine?

Be straight with the controller about it. Once a diesel engine has run on petrol, the wrong fuel is drawn through the filter, pump and injectors, and the job usually becomes a recovery to a garage rather than a roadside fix. Saying so up front means we send the right unit and you get an accurate price first time.

Call The Recovery Line

Once you are safe, a controller will stay on the line and confirm what we are sending.

Common questions

Emergency Fuel FAQs

The questions our controllers are asked most often. If yours is not here, ring the line and ask.

I have put petrol in my diesel. What do I do?

Do not start the engine and do not turn the ignition on. If you are on a forecourt, get help to push the vehicle clear of the pumps. Then call us and tell us how much went in and whether the engine has run. If it has not, the job is usually straightforward.

Does it matter if I have already driven it?

Yes, a great deal. Once the engine has run, the wrong fuel is drawn through the filter, pump and injectors, and the vehicle needs recovering to a garage rather than fixing at the roadside. Be straight with the controller about how far you drove.

How much fuel do you bring?

Enough to get the vehicle started and on to the nearest filling station, rather than a full tank. Tell the controller the fuel type when you call so the right fuel comes out.

Can you drain the tank at the roadside?

It depends on the vehicle, the location and how much went in. A busy forecourt or a live carriageway is rarely a safe place for it. The controller will tell you on the call whether it is a roadside job or a recovery to a garage.

My diesel ran completely dry and will not restart. Why?

Many diesels draw air into the fuel system when they run out, and simply adding fuel is not enough — the system needs bleeding or priming. Some vehicles self-prime and some do not. If it will not start after fuelling, we can recover it.

Do you cover motorways?

Yes. If you have run dry on a motorway, get onto the hard shoulder or into an emergency refuge area, leave the vehicle by the left-hand doors and wait behind the barrier. Then call, and we will bring fuel or move you off the carriageway.

Do I need breakdown cover or a membership?

No. There is no membership, no annual fee and no policy number needed. You call, we quote, and you pay for the call-out you actually need.

Will my insurance cover a misfuel?

Some comprehensive policies include misfuelling cover, many do not, and it is often sold as a separate add-on. We are not insurance advisers, so check your policy wording. Either way we deal with the vehicle and give you an invoice you can submit.

Can you fuel vans, lorries and plant?

Yes. Vans, light commercials and machinery on site are all refuelled regularly. Tell the controller the vehicle and where it is so we bring the right fuel and the right amount.

Do you cover call-outs at night and on bank holidays?

Yes. The line is answered 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Out-of-hours call-outs are priced differently and you are told the figure before anything is dispatched.
